HMS Lancaster – “The Queens Frigate” in West India Dock

HMS Lancaster

What is known as the Queen’s own warship has arrived in West India Dock.

The HMS Lancaster is a Duke class Type 23 frigate, She is known as the Queen’s Frigate due to Duke of Lancaster being one of the titles of the Queen.

The ship has travelled the world  carrying out anti drugs duties in the Caribbean and anti piracy duties around the Horn of Africa before coming back to the UK for a major refit.

The ship will be open to visitors on Sunday between 1.30 and 5.30 pm and she will have a royal visitor on Tuesday when the Queen herself  will go on board.

The Lancaster was bought into the Dock by tugs Svitzer Mercia and Ceclia.
