Luigi Durand de la Penne Destroyer in West India Dock

Today, saw the arrival of the Italian Destroyer, the Luigi Durand de Le Penne in West India Dock.

Durand de la Penne came into service with Marina Militare Italiana starting from 1993, and performs missile destroyers duties  over the Mediterranean sea, and was a main part of the Italian peacekeeping force in Lebanon.

The ship is a guided missile destroyer  whose length is 147.7 m (485 ft) with a Beam: 16.1 m (53 ft ).
It has a topspeed of 32 knots and has a full complement of 380 crew.

The public are invited on board on Friday from 9.30am to midday and from 4.30pm to 7.30pm, on Saturday from 9.30am to midday and between 3pm and 6pm, on Sunday from 3pm to 6pm and on Monday from 9.30am to midday and 3pm to 5.30pm.

The Ship will leave London on Wednesday.
