The recent arrival of a small cruise ship in West India Dock is a reminder that Cruise ships are a familiar sight navigating around the loop around the Isle of Dogs. Eric Pemberton kindly sent some pictures of the Silver Cloud as it made its way to a berth at Tower Bridge. Silver Cloud is a small cruise ship operated by Silversea Cruises, she entered service in 1994 as Silversea’s first ship, and was followed by three other vessels.

In summer, the Silver Cloud generally sails on European itineraries (both the North Sea and the Mediterranean)and in winter, she cruises in the Caribbean and South America. You will see her making her way down the Thames on the 3rd of August to start her cruise to the Baltics, she will be visiting Copenhagen, Stockholm, Tallinn, Helsinki and St Petersburg and other destinations.

With only capacity for 296 passengers and a crew of 222, the Silver Cloud is at the luxury end of the market with a 15 day cruise costing over 6000 pounds.
