Filming of ‘Stratton’ in Millwall Dock
Regular readers of the blog will know that a large number of films have been shot in the Isle of Dogs and Canary Wharf over the years. It is also not unusual to see film crews around Canary Wharf especially at the weekend.
Perhaps more unusual is the use of Millwall Dock for filming , however for the next couple of days it is the location for filming a new British thriller ‘Stratton’. Millwall Dock has been used before to film river scenes, most famously in the Bond film, The World is not Enough where many of the power boat stunts were filmed.
The filming taking place for Stratton is focused on a few barges and chase scenes with a number of boats racing up and down the dock. The film directed by Simon West features Dominic Cooper, Gemma Chan, Austin Stowell, Tyler Hoechlin, Tom Felton, Thomas Kretschmann, Derek Jacobi and Connie Nielsen.
A few of the actors were filming the scenes watched by bemused residents and office workers. The film is based on a novel by Duncan Falconer. The story follows Stratton as he and his team race against time to track down international terrorists.
Whether they succeed, we will have to wait till next year when the film is due to be released.
Many thanks to Annie Walker for letting me know about the filming.
